Dr. Benjamin Kelley was born in Bakersfield, California but lived in Anchorage, Alaska from age 2 to 22. In 2006 he graduated from Bartlett High School where the faculty voted him Male Most Likely to Succeed. He completed a Bachelor’s of Natural Science with a Minor in Psychology at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he received the Biological Sciences Departmental Honors Award.In 2010 he began studying at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida and graduated at the top of his class. He received several awards and honors, including the COSGP Silver Award for 50+ hours of community service, Student D.O. of the Year 2011-2012, The McCaughan Heritage Scholarship, and the Dean’s Award upon graduation in 2014.Dr. Kelley began his surgical residency training at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan in 2014. He completed rotations in neurotology, head and neck cancer, facial plastics and allergy/immunology, and a total of 14 months training in pediatric otolaryngology at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He received the Dr. Suzanne White Award for contributions to the Resident Council in 2016, and won First Prize at the Michigan SCS-ENT Research Day Competition in 2018 for his work on tympanic membrane repair. He also served as clinical faculty at Michigan State University School of Medicine for 5 years before graduating as chief resident in 2019. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
